Saturday lunch to celebrate our golden wedding anniversary was a must for us and one of our daughters recommended The Silks. The food was first class, the service friendly and efficient and overall the meal was really good value (3 courses as couldn't resist a pudding). We will visit again in the evening as Saturday lunchtime was a bit noisier than we anticipated (but I guess not surprisingly). Highly recommended.

The Silks chosen simply for being half way between us and two of our children. Arrived a bit early for our 3o/c booking but had drinks in very pleasant garden over looking paddocks and horses. Was worried that late lunch (and fathers’ day) may compromise the roast. How wrong! All the elements of our Sunday roast were quite excellent. The beef was beautiful, pink, tender and generous. Our random choice turned out to be a real treat. Really enjoyed my pint of the local Ramsbury brewery. Given the charming and efficient staff, what was not to like at The Silks.

Disappointing. I was passing through the area so stopped in. Friendly staff, the chap Luke on the bar was very polite. Food was not great however. Small menus normally mean excellent food so I was excited, but the main dish had very little flavour, the chips were sadly undercooked so still quite firm in the centre, and the sponge of the sticky toffee pudding was actually pretty badly burnt which was surprising. Service time from order to receiving food was also longer than expected, although I suspect they were understaffed. The other reviews are great so I'm sure I just caught them on an off day, but it's a real shame.
